چکیده

The surface of wind turbine blades are prone to degradation due exposure the elements. Rain, hail, insects among many causes blade or erosion. Surface leads a reduction in aerodynamic performance, resulting power losses. effect is studied by modeling as rough surface. roughness can be positive (insects other foreign objects) negative (erosion, delamination). individual elements however very small and it not always feasible study actual degraded Thus various models have been proposed literature which eliminate need accurately model representing erosion with virtual on flow quantities near eroded In this study, performance airfoils leading edge quantified. Different investigated evaluated against theoretical models. Additionally, different integral boundary layer like displacement thickness, momentum thickness skin friction presented.

Turbulent Flow over Cars

In this paper the flow behaviour over a number of car bodies is studied. For this purpose the unsteady 2-D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations have been applied. After averaging and nondimensionalizing the equations, the system of equations has been transformed from the Cartesian (x-y) coordinates to a body fitted generalized (-) coordinate. As the flow is incompressible, the density in the ...

the effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends

flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...

Leading Edge Vortex Development on Pitching and Surging Airfoils: A Study of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines

Vertical axis wind turbine blades undergo dynamic stall due to the large 1 angle of attack variation they experience during a turbine rotation. Particle image 2 velocimetry on a pitching and surging airfoil was used to perform time resolved 3 measurements at blade Reynolds numbers near turbine operating conditions of 105. 4 These experiments were compared to simulations performed in the rotatin...
